Listen to the Talks
Recordings were made of the talks given by Fr. Stan Fortuna, CFR and Rick Santorum. Unfortunately, we do not have recordings of Danny Abramowicz’s talk or the excellent homily given by Fr. Rick Prior… my bad.
Rick spoke about how faith animated his life of public service, and carried him through personal tragedy. He challenged the men to press on in the face of seeming failure.
Fr. Stan Fortuna
Fr. Stan invited the men to a Barbecue of Faith… to subject their lives to the heat and fire of the love of God. He draws on the papal teachings on Solidarity of JP II and Benedict XVI.
IGNITE 2009 Participant Feedback
Excerpted from emails received in the days following the event
Thank you for IGNITE 2009! I don’t think I can find the words to say how awesome it was. We already have more men from the Rochester area lined up for IGNITE 2010! We may even be able to give that Syracuse parish that sent the most men a run for their money! With this in mind, how do I sign up as a Parish Captain?—Pat, from Rochester
Often when someone asks “What did you do this weekend?” it takes me a moment to remember, but not this week.—Don, from Sacred Heart in Cicero
Every person I talked to, of every political stripe, of every age and background has been unisonous in saying how much they got out of it, how much it meant to them. Little things all contributed to make this a truly game changing, life changing, day for many, if not all. I personally thank you and I’m sure my wife and children will, as I take to heart the new man I’ve become.—William, from St. Mary’s in Skaneateles
Words cannot (yet) express how much I gained from Saturday’s experience. It was truly a moving experience for me. Our Parish Captain is already taking steps to get the men from our parish together for a “debriefing session.” It would be great to process the day and see where to go next.—Jim, from St. John’s in Liverpool
I must confess that I was very skeptical — hopeful, but skeptical. My skepticism vanished instantly when I walked into the East Ballroom and saw the sea of men. The sensation I got hearing the voices of a thousand men raised in song as the Holy Mass began is simply indescribable. Even now I get chills when I think about it.—John, from Our Lady of Peace in Lakeland
IGNITE 2009 was an exceptionally well conceived and executed program. I have been telling my Catholic friends about this and I hope to bring several with me next year.—Mike, from St. Agatha’s in Canastota
My wife really gave the nudge to go and I am really glad I did. Powerful, renewing, and inspiring. The day was very well put together. I know that the power of this conference will reverberate throughout the Diocese!—John, from St. Joseph’s in Oneida
It is great to see the men who attended IGNITE 2009 from my parish are now coming to daily mass.—A parish priest in Syracuse.
