As the Year of Faith wraps up, I am glad to know that the Door of Faith remains open to the men of the Diocese of Syracuse. The sixth annual IGNITE Catholic Men’s Conference will again be held at the SRC Center on the campus of Onondaga Community College. The conference theme for IGNITE 2014 is Return to the Lord. This is a wonderful invitation for the men who have attended this excellent conference in the past. It is also an invitation that you can extend to others who have never been and need an opportunity like this to return to the practice of their faith.

Richard Lane, Kerry Fraser, and Ken Davison will relate their journeys to the Lord. They will also share insights for staying close to the Lord and keeping your loved ones close to the Lord. Mark your calendar for March 29, 2014. I look forward to making my return to this great Conference and seeing you at IGNITE 2014.

This Year’s Guest Speakers

Kerry Fraser

Kerry Fraser is a former senior National Hockey League referee. He began his NHL officiating career in 1980, and has called over 2100 NHL games including 260 Stanley Cup playoff games. He also officiated during the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano Japan. Kerry is an accomplished speaker and is the author of a best seller, “The Final Call: Hockey Stories From a Legend In Stripes.” Kerry is on the board of directors for Catholic Athletes for Christ and speaks about his conversion to the Catholic faith.

Richard Lane

As a convert to the Faith in April 2003, it was in early 2005 when Mr. Lane was lead to begin proclaiming the Gospel as a Street Corner Evangelist, sharing the Word of God, passing out Bibles, Crosses and other Religious items. Since that time Mr. Lane continues to be featured in the national media on “Catholic Answers Live,” Ave Maria Radio, Relevant Radio as well as Protestant Radio. He is also the Producer and Co-Host of “Evangelizing St. Louis.” Mr. Lane’s dynamic and charismatic style of ministry is based upon three principles; Faith – Hope – Love; integrating these with the Sacraments instituted by Christ. Evangelist Lane focuses on Reconciliation in an effort to bring about healing to so many who are lost and fallen away. “It’s NEVER too late to come home” is one of the most passionate talks ever given by Evangelist Lane.

Ken Davison

Ken Davison is the Chief Operations Officer of the Envoy Institute. He has spoken to audiences about developing their children’s Catholic Faith and nurturing a Christian imagination in today’s toxic culture. His writings have appeared in This Rock, Homiletic & Pastoral Review, and the Knights of Columbus online magazine Fathers for Good. Since 2007, Ken has worked closely with Patrick Madrid to develop the Envoy Institute, a nationwide outreach teaching Catholics to better understand, defend, and share their Faith. Ken is the creator of Glory Stories, a children’s radio series of dramatized saint stories, and founder and President of Holy Heroes which provides fun and catechetical products to help parents “bring the joy of the Faith to their families.”

Ken was a Distinguished Graduate of the United States Air Force Academy (earning a Bachelor of Science), a Rhodes Scholar in Oxford (earning a Master of Arts in History and Russian Language and Literature), and a graduate of the Institute for Pastoral Theology of Ave Maria University (earning a Master of Theological Studies). Ken is a convert to Catholicism, he entered the Catholic Church in 1998, and lives in North Carolina with his wife, Kerri, and eight children.
